The past 8 months have been especially challenging for us all. Unfortunately, the restrictions we have been placed under and the resulting hardship has caused tensions to escalate, leading to more instances of assault and violence against women. While requests for our help have increased, we continued offering much-needed trauma counselling services (24 hour crisis line, individual and group) and prevention education across York Region.

With the support of our skilled staff, donors and dedicated volunteers, WSN, introduced new programming and established new community partnerships. In response to the unique safety needs of survivors during the pandemic, WSN safely enhanced supports to those in need through virtual counselling, text and online chat. The Women’s Support Network of York Region is a non-profit charitable organization that provides free, confidential and accessible services to survivors of sexual violence and human trafficking in York Region.

There are several ways you can donate to WSN:

Donations of $20 or more are eligible for a tax receipt that will be provided by Canada Helps. You can also give a one-time gift through cash or cheque. Please contact us to arrange a drop off.

Donate an Emergency Bag for Survivors of Human Trafficking

Women experiencing human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation often find themselves with very few resources when trying to get out. Show your support by putting together an emergency bag.

Select items to donate + pack the items in a duffle bag or backpack + drop off at WSN.

WSN supports survivors in their healing. Our community generously shows they care about these survivors by donating gift cards, personal care items,  non-perishable food, new clothing, and new toys for children and teens. Contact us to arrange a drop off.

Want to donate to WSN’s Our Community Cares Program but can’t drop off at our office? That’s ok! You can also buy the high need items needed for WSN’s Our Community Cares Program and have them shipped to WSN: 1110 Stellar Drive, Unit 109, Newmarket, ON L3Y 7B7 

We show our appreciation to groups and organizations that donate to WSN in a number of ways, such as including your logo on our website and sharing your generosity on our social media pages. 

Planned gifts can help donors achieve their philanthropic legacy by supporting the causes that are important to them. There are a number of ways donors can support survivors and help eradicate sexual violence by planning to give to WSN in the present and/or the future. WSN recommends always speaking with a tax, financial, and/or legal advisor about the planned gift that is best for you. 

  1. Charitable Bequest

A bequest is a charitable commitment made through your Will to be distributed upon your death. A bequest can be a specific sum of money or a percentage of one’s estate and are typically planned when Wills are drawn.

  1. Gift of Life Insurance

To support a charity like WSN with through a gift of life insurance, donors can change an existing policy or purchase a new life insurance policy. 

  1. Donations of RRSPs and RRIFs

Donors can make a gift to WSN through Registered Retirement Savings Plans (RRSPs) and Registered Retirement Income Funds (RRIFs) by naming WSN as a beneficiary or secondary designation.

Thank you for your interest in organizing a fundraising event supporting WSN. As York Region’s only sexual violence crisis centre, WSN provides critical services to survivors of sexual violence and commercial sexual exploitation while working to eradicate sexual violence through public education and outreach. All contributions from the community make a difference in the lives of the survivors we support.

Third-party fundraisers are organized and managed by individuals, groups, clubs, businesses, or anyone else who wants to support WSN’s mission. 

WSN can provide our logo and outreach materials for third-party fundraising initiatives that align with our values and guiding principles. If requested, WSN will do our best to send a representative to the event.

  • Our Shop WSN page contains a number of T-shirts available for purchase.  These pieces offer individuals a chance to raise awareness about sexual violence and gender based violence through fashion.
